Colorfly C4 Pro Firmware Update

• Hello, A lot of C4 lovers ask me about what format C4 support. Now all formats and their specifications are listed below.
For DSD/hi-Res file you won't need the NWH10 cable with the PHA-2 (ZX1 has it's own dedicated cable) but you will for all other file types or connecting with another DAC like the Hugo (DAC/Amp). I'm hoping to get a dedicated cable made, I'll let you know how I get on The sound on the ZX1 is best described (imo) as detailed, airy, great mids & a thunderous bass (if it's in the music), it's pretty much natural soundwise that is ever so slightly warm in presentation that said, it is clinical with bad recordings (they will sound crap & cluttered) best to use lossless where you can. Some have said it's a clinically cold player but that is not my view.
Dec 17, 2010 Upon first impression, the Colorfly C4 is a pretty impressive sight. The wooden enclosure, the vintage finishing on the faceplate, the pro-grade ALPS slider for volume control, to the medieval-gothic emblem on the back.
There is a firmware update next month & Sony are bound to tweak things a little, unlike other makes Sony's changes are subtle. I am sorry but I feel the need to have a bit of a rant about Sony! A few weeks ago, just after receiving a sales email offering me 20% off the ZX1, I tried to speak to someone at Sony along the lines of 'Where/when could I plug my own headphones into a ZX1 in a Sony showroom?' The nice but useless guy could only tell me that there was no longer a Sony showroom at the Westfield Shopping Centre at Shepherd's Bush in West London and that two other West London shops were closing down!
When I informed him that Apple had large showrooms in Regent Street, Covent Garden and within the huge Westfield Shopping Centre, he agreed that Sony was letting its West London customers down. I went with my Colorfly C4 Pro to the Apple Showroom at the Westfield Shopping Centre and thereby avoided buying a pair of the B & W P7 headphones which were over bassy etc (with the C4 Pro), I am sure they might work well with a number of other devices. Thanks to Apple's policy of having 3 or more large London showrooms, they saved me £329! Surely Sony should have 1 large showroom somewhere in the West End or West London? We all know that the ZX1 is a brand new product but why shouldn't Sony be able to provide 1 at a showroom in the West End or West London when Apple have 3 showrooms in this area? Rant over, apologies. This evening I downloaded some new WAV music onto my Colorfly C4 Pro which reminded me it is incapable of putting music into alphabetical order, it makes good music and has plenty of power but is a somewhat basic device in many ways hence my interest in the ZX1!

Click to expand.Slightly off topic but the problem for Sony is that they are no longer a major player when compared to Apple etc. Dont get me wrong if given a choice I would rather have Sony products. Always preferred their style, quality and usually ease of use. Although they have success in the gaming market, their phone and audio depts have fallen behind in the last decade. Sony smartphones only have around a 5% marketshare.
They also have never recovered from the release of the original ipod years ago. As for shops, down here in the south-west, I think there is still a Sony centre in Bristol and Exeter. However anytime I've gone in over the years they have never had the top of the line walkman in stock to view or buy, and their staff in my opinion didnt seem to know much about these products.
